COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Ryun's No-Hitter Shuts Down Bakersfield, 2-0

March 30, 1995

Amy Ryun pitched a no-hitter to pace College of the Canyons' 2-0 victory Wednesday over Bakersfield in a Western State Conference softball game at Canyons.

Ryun (7-3) faced only one batter over the minimum. That batter reached on an error for Bakersfield (3-12, 1-6).

Trisha Beer went two for three for the Cougars (12-8, 4-3).

Antelope Valley 12, Rio Hondo 0--Andi Boswell hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning for the host Marauders (16-7, 4-1) in a Foothill Conference game. Jodi Snelling allowed two hits in the six-inning game.

Antelope Valley's Cindy Sims had three hits.

Pierce 3, Ventura 1--The Brahmas bounced back from a 1-0 setback last week against first-place Moorpark to beat the Pirates in a WSC game at Ventura.

With Pierce trailing, 1-0, in the sixth, Brede Nivens tripled with two out and scored on a wild pitch by Ventura starting pitcher Kristi Greyson to tie the game.

One-out singles by Lynette Micheli and Julie Kawamoto started off the decisive seventh for the Brahmas. Erica Montes singled to score Micheli for the game-winner. Grace Ramirez, running for Kawamoto, scored the final run on a groundout by Lisa Servera.

Mandy Villasenor (9-4) threw a three-hitter for Pierce.

BASEBALL

Cal Lutheran 8, Azusa Pacific 6--The Kingsmen raced to an eight-run lead after three innings, but had to hold on for the nonconference victory at Azusa.

Azuza (20-7) scored two earned runs against starter David Jaglowski (2-2), who allowed seven hits in six innings.

John Becker went two for four with three RBIs and hit his fifth homer for Cal Lutheran (12-7), which had 12 hits.

San Bernardino 9, Antelope Valley 1--The Marauders (12-10-1, 7-6) were held to three hits in a Foothill Conference game at San Bernardino.

MEN'S TENNIS

Cal Lutheran 6, University of Southern Colorado 2--Mark Ellis and Tomislav Zelenovic remained undefeated for the Kingsmen in the nonconference match at Cal Lutheran.
