Hiring and Firing Tips: Selecting, motivating and terminating employees are the topics of a seminar called "Simple Strategies to Improve Hiring Decisions and Employee Performance" to be held in San Diego on Wednesday. Sponsored by the Small Business Development Center of the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce, the meeting will feature human resources expert Linda Shoob and is directed toward small business owners and managers looking for help in choosing the right new employee from a pool of applicants, as well as those trying to navigate through the legally delicate process of terminating an unsatisfactory worker. The seminar will highlight various screening and interview techniques for hiring, as well as monitoring and documentation methods used in firing. Shoob will also discuss coaching and setting performance guidelines for use in maximizing the productivity of existing employees.
