With the June 6 election rapidly approaching, the political fund-raising pace in two hotly contested Los Angeles City Council races is not letting up, according to campaign statements.
Candidate Michael Feuer, former head of a legal services clinic, has raised $180,900, while his opponent, Barbara Yaroslavsky, a longtime activist and the wife of county Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, has collected $176,400, the reports show.
Feuer and Yaroslavsky are running for the 5th District council seat that Yaroslavsky's husband previously had held.
Meanwhile, 10th District Councilman Nate Holden, seeking his third term, has raised $144,001 while his challenger, attorney J. Stanley Sanders, has garnered $96,588. Sanders' total included $20,833 from the public matching funds program. Holden is not receiving matching funds.
The campaign reports filed this week cover fund-raising up to May 20.
