Movies to Tape

June 11, 1995|Peter Rainer

Around the World in 80 Days (TNT Sunday at 6 a.m.), based on the Jules Verne fantasia, is a great big grab bag of star appearances, featuring everyone from David Niven and Frank Sinatra to Marlene Dietrich.

Conrack (TMC Tuesday at 6:35 a.m.) stars Jon Voight in perhaps the best, and the least recognized, performance of his career as a teacher for impoverished black kids off an island in South Carolina. It's based on Pat Conroy's first, autobiographical book.
