Equal Opportunity Eating Disorders

June 16, 1995

It's about time someone paid attention to the fact that eating disorders are not just a feminine issue "Silence and Guilt," (May 23). As a personal trainer/fitness consultant for the past 15 years, and a marriage, family, child therapist intern for the past three years, I have witnessed the effects of eating disorders that run rampant throughout the lives of men and women alike.

People need to know that they are not alone and they can get help. Of equal importance is for the fitness professional to be aware of the signs of someone who is in trouble--both physical and verbal cues.
