Small Faces

August 06, 1995

It's strike two for the Tori Amos/Michael Stipe collaboration. After getting bumped by Bryan Adams from the "Don Juan De Marco" soundtrack, "It Might Hurt a Little Bit" now has also been bumped from the soundtrack for the upcoming "Empire Records." A&M Records' director of film music, Jonathan McHugh, says the track simply wasn't right for the film. It may get a third chance with Winona Ryder's "The Girl in His Room." . . .

With Arrested Development on a break, leader Speech is working on his first solo album. . . . Also making a solo debut is Chynna Phillips, due in the fall and titled "Naked and Sacred." Among the producers are Glen Ballard (who produced her former group Wilson Phillips and Alanis Morissette), Desmond Child (Cher) and Patrick Leonard (Madonna).

Oops, wrong singer: Jakob Dylan is not with the Freewheelers as last week's Small Faces incorrectly stated. He's with the Wallflowers, which sprang from the same L.A. club scene as the Freewheelers, fronted by Luther Russell.
