COSTA MESA : Resident Input Sought on O.C. Bankruptcy

August 09, 1995|HOPE HAMASHIGE

Residents will be able to speak their minds about the Orange County bankruptcy at a session today to help the City Council draft a position statement.

The council and the city's Redevelopment Agency are seeking public comment at a joint session, after which council members plan to make a statement on the city's position on the options for resolving the county's financial crisis.

Mayor Joe Erickson said cities will be affected greatly by whatever recovery plan the county eventually adopts.

"We felt it was time for a city to take a formal vote," Erickson said.

"Maybe other cities will follow our lead."

Both the city of Costa Mesa and its Redevelopment Agency had money in the county's investment pool when it collapsed in December.

The joint session will be at 6:30 p.m. in City Council chambers, 77 Fair Drive.
