LOS ALAMITOS : Avison Has Plenty of Go in Winning Go Man Go

August 20, 1995|STACY PIGOTT

Avison is continuing his dominance of the older horse ranks at Los Alamitos, winning the $75,000 Go Man Go Handicap on Saturday night.

Trained by Connie Hall, Avison, a 5-year-old gelding, has won three stakes this year--including the Grade I Vessels Maturity--and has already earned a spot in the prestigious Champion of Champions.

Ridden by Joe Badilla Jr. in the Go Man Go Handicap, Avison broke perfectly, easily leading the field from wire to wire and finishing half a length in front of longshot Pritzi Dash. Sound Dash was third.

The winning time for the 400 yards was 19.77 seconds. Avison paid $5.20 to win.
