Coca-Cola Co. Opens Plant: The company, fighting PepsiCo Inc. for a new soft drink market, opened the $24-million plant Saturday near Hanoi, a move that will double its production capacity in the country. The Coca-Cola Ngoc Hoi Soft Drinks Co. plant in Ha Tay province will supply 30 million people in the north, Singapore-based leading partner F&N Coca-Cola Pte Ltd. said. Other plants will follow. The new plant is the first joint venture factory built with U.S. money since President Clinton lifted an economic embargo against Vietnam in February, 1994, F&N said.
