A Most Important Aspect of His Legacy

I commend The Times for reminding us of the legacy of Ruben Salazar ("The Trailblazer," Aug. 21). However I must point out that the article missed an aspect of Ruben's legacy.

Soon after Ruben's death, a group of Latino journalists were spurred by the tragedy and created the California Chicano News Media Assn.

For more than two decades, CCNMA has awarded scholarships to aspiring journalists, organized job fairs and held high school journalism workshops.
