SANTA ANA — A suspected gang member died of chest wounds suffered in a drive-by shooting Saturday night on West 2nd Street, police said Sunday.
Alfred Montanez, 23, of Santa Ana was with a group of gang members when a vehicle drove down the 1800 block of 2nd Street and the car's occupants shot at the group, Police Sgt. Dick Faust said. At least one bullet struck Montanez in the chest.
