Billy Cat Tran began his college career this year with the help of Cal State Fullerton's first mathematics scholarship offered to high school graduates of the Santa Ana Unified School District.
The $300-per-year scholarship was created by math professor David L. Pagni, who started an endowment by donating the $4,000 cash award he received when named the university's 1993-94 Cal State Outstanding Professor.
