Diodes Expects Business as Usual Despite ITT Sale

October 10, 1995|JACK SEARLES

Diodes Inc., a Westlake Village distributor of semiconductor products, expects to continue operating without interruption despite the impending sale of an ITT Corp. unit that manufactures 40% of Diodes' product line.

ITT has agreed to sell the unit, ITT Semiconductors, to Telefunken Microelectronic, a subsidiary of Germany's Daimler-Benz Corp.

Spokesmen for ITT and the German concern, known as Temic, said the sale should involve no significant changes in either company, and that all customer commitments will continue to be honored.

Diodes receives nearly half its line of diodes, rectifiers, transistors and voltage suppressors from ITT Intermetall, a division of ITT Semiconductors.

"Based on current indications, we view the sale of ITT Semiconductors as a positive development," said David Lin, Diodes' president and chief executive. "We anticipate that our affiliation with the new owners of Intermetall will continue to be as fruitful as the relationship enjoyed to date with ITT."

Diodes supplies semiconductor products to the automotive, electronics, computer and telecommunications industries.
