COLLEGE FOOTBALL : Kansas, Kansas State Still Unbeaten : Big Eight: No. 10 Jayhawks roll to 34-7 victory over Cyclones in first game after defeating Colorado.

LAWRENCE, Kan. — If Kansas suffered the post-Colorado letdown that Iowa State coaches were hoping for, it wasn't evident in the way the Jayhawks played.

Crowding nine and sometimes 10 men on the line of scrimmage to stop national rushing leader Troy Davis, the 10th-ranked Jayhawks took command with a 20-point second quarter Saturday and rolled past the Cyclones, 34-7, in their first game as a Top 10 team in 19 years.

One week after beating then-No. 4 Colorado and moving into the Top 10 for the first time since 1976, Kansas, 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Big Eight, seemed sure to come out emotionally flat.

"I had concerns about that and I addressed it to the team," Coach Glen Mason said. "But it didn't happen. We're having fun out there."

Four players scored touchdowns as the Jayhawks went to 6-0 for the first time since 1968 and held Davis 80 yards below his average.
