CAMARILLO : Hundreds Expected at Red Ribbon Games

October 23, 1995|NICK GREEN

Hundreds of people are expected to participate Sunday in the fourth annual Red Ribbon Games at Adolfo Camarillo High School.

Activities include softball, basketball, track and field events and even board games for all ages. The games will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Up to 500 youngsters and adults have participated in previous years, said Richard Diaz, event coordinator.

Held for the last three years at Freedom Park, the games are moving to the high school in an attempt to increase exposure to the sober lifestyle and youth-oriented activities the event is intended to promote, Diaz said.

Diaz hopes the event creates awareness for the Friday Night Live program for high school-age youngsters and Club Live, which is aimed at middle school-age kids. The youth peer counseling programs, designed to provide healthy activities for youngsters 12 to 18, operate statewide. The Red Ribbon Games will help finance the two programs

Registration closes Tuesday. The cost is $10, which includes a T-shirt. Call 484-9003 for more information.
