Friends and supporters of two outgoing Westlake Village City Council members will say farewell later this month with a dinner in their honor.
The event, to honor Mayor Kenneth Rufener and Councilwoman Berniece Bennett, will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, 880 Westlake Blvd. in Westlake Village.
Bennett, who has served on the council for the past 14 years, announced in July she would not seek reelection. Rufener, elected to the council in 1987, announced early this year he would not run again.
The city was torn by controversy after the council voted in April to approve a PriceCostco store in the city, but both departing council members say that had nothing to do with their decisions not to run again. Cost for the dinner is $30, or $55 per couple. Reservations, required by Nov. 20, can be made by calling (818) 706-1613.
