ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast — President Henri Konan Bedie's ruling Democratic Party won a landslide victory Monday in this West African country's second multi-party general election.

Partial results from Sunday's poll, announced by the Interior Ministry, gave Bedie's party 133 of the 175 seats in the National Assembly of the world's top cocoa producer. Two opposition parties, the Ivorian Popular Front and Rally of the Republicans, took nine seats each.

Sunday's voting was peaceful, even though the government barred the two top opposition party leaders from running. By contrast, political and ethnic clashes killed at least 35 people before and after the October presidential election, boycotted by the opposition.
