Cypress rallied from 19 points down in the first half only to lose in the last second to Long Beach, 77-75, in the third-place game in Cypress men's basketball tournament Saturday.

Long Beach led, 75-70, with about two minutes left but the Chargers tied it on a three-pointer by Paul Pappas with 1:25 left and a rebound basket by Jason Krauss with 34 seconds to play.

Long Beach (9-6) took the lead, 77-75, when Jemall Slaughter slipped through the maze of bodies to get a rebound and dunk it with one second left.

Cypress (7-7) had a chance to tie it when Pappas passed nearly the length of the court to Shane Miller. He caught the ball but his shot rolled off the rim as time ran out.

Long Beach led, 30-11, with 10:45 left in the half but Cypress came back to cut the deficit to four points at the half. Gil Gonzales had four three-pointers in the Chargers' first-half rally.
