The son a federal appeals court judge on Monday was nominated by President Clinton to be a federal district judge.
Dean D. Pregerson, 44, of Pacific Palisades, is a partner in the firm of Pregerson, Richman & Luna. His father, Harry Pregerson, is a judge on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
A graduate of UCLA and the UC Davis Law School, Dean Pregerson worked briefly as a parole officer for the California Department of Corrections and as an assistant public defender in Guam.
He has been in private law here since 1979, specializing in civil litigation.
He has also been involved in a wide range of civic activities, serving as president of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Commission, a member of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission and a board member of Bet Tzedek Legal Services and the Salvation Army Bell Homeless Shelter.
