Code Details Agents' Responsibilities

February 04, 1996

Apparently it is real estate agent Jeff Landau who does not know the rules ("Letters," Dec. 3). As required by the Civil Code, upon entering discussion of a transaction, real estate agents must give to buyers and sellers a "Disclosure Regarding Real Estate Agency Relationships."

Under duties regarding dual agents on this form is the statement:

In representing both seller and buyer, the agent may not, without the express permission of the respective party, disclose to the other party that the seller will accept a price less than the listing price or that the buyer will pay a price greater than the price offered.
