VALLEY NEWSWATCH

February 07, 1996

HILLARY HERE: Colin Powell skipped the Valley on his book tour, but not Hillary Clinton. The First Lady will visit the Vaughn Next Century Learning Center in Pacoima on Thursday to promote her book, "It Takes a Village." . . . "She's wanted to visit there several times, but we've never been able to schedule it," said Neel Lattimore, a Clinton press aide. . . . Clinton will visit two classrooms and field questions in the school's auditorium.

NEWT & CANDY: Hillary Clinton won't be the Valley's first visitor from Washington this week. House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) dropped by Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank on Tuesday to tape a cameo for CBS's "Murphy Brown." . . . Gingrich's half-sister, Candace, recently visited the lot for an appearance on NBC's "Friends."
