River Traffic Gets OK

February 08, 1996| Reuters

CINCINNATI — A 280-foot power plant smokestack, cracked by subzero temperatures, was demolished by explosives experts early Wednesday, allowing barge traffic in the Ohio River to move after two days of delays.

Officials said the damaged smokestack was a hazard to river traffic near New Richmond, Ohio, so it was toppled into the river.
