Work was made easier for cabdrivers in Santa Monica on Tuesday after a vote by the City Council approving eight new taxi zones where cabs can stop and pick up passengers.
The council also requested staff to add as many as 16 temporary taxi zones to the city's busy downtown area. Santa Monica has only eight designated taxi zones and more than 250 taxi licenses.
