February 15, 1996|HOUSTON MITCHELL

Unlike last season, when people criticized the CIF for putting the class of the II-A division, Dominguez and Inglewood, in the same bracket, this year the teams are positioned to meet in the final. Dominguez narrowly defeated Inglewood in last year's semifinals and had no trouble with Tustin in the final. Now the Dons, winners of 22 consecutive games, will open at home against South Torrance on Friday at 7:30 and should easily advance to the final, where Coach Russell Otis hopes to find Inglewood waiting for him. . . . Norwalk has the longest trip of any playoff team, a 100-mile trek to Rim of the World. . . . Wilson and Millikan petitioned for at-large berths in I-AA, but the brackets were filled by automatic qualifiers, so no at-large teams were taken. Division V-AA was the only other not to take any at-large teams.
