About 700 people packed the auditorium at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Baldwin Park Tuesday night to discuss water.
It wasn't holy water they came to talk about. But rather some of the most polluted ground water in the San Gabriel Valley and the long-awaited construction of a $42-million treatment plant.
Residents voiced their blessing for the project's goal, while raising concerns about the impact of the proposed Irwindale treatment plant on nearby homes.
Officials from the Three Valleys Municipal Water District and the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority promised to heed the concerns and offered reassurances they would be a good neighbor.
