IRVINE — Celeritas Technologies Ltd. has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed against AT&T Corp. for an alleged patent infringement, the companies said Thursday.

Celeritas, an Irvine-based research company, filed suit against AT&T in September, claiming the telecommunications giant had illegally appropriated a Celeritas technology that allows computer modems to transmit information over cellular telephone networks.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but AT&T has agreed to license the technology from Celeritas. "There was a cash settlement, a very generous licensing fee paid by AT&T to us," said Glenn Ray, president of Celeritas.

Celeritas is pursuing an identical suit against Rockwell International Corp.
