Orange County sheriff's investigators are appealing to the public for help in finding the suspect in a December rape, assault and kidnapping.
A 39-year-old Lake Forest woman reported that a man she met Dec. 23 at Country Rock Cafe, a restaurant and nightclub in the 23000 block of Mercury Road, later assaulted her in his van after the two shared breakfast at a local restaurant.
The man is described as being of Middle Eastern descent, about 32 years old, 6 feet tall with a stocky build, brown eyes and dark hair, according to Lt. Ron Wilkerson, a sheriff's spokesman.
The suspect, who may go by "Billy" or "Steve," is believed to be a frequent visitor to area pool halls and may have arrived recently in Orange County from Northern California, Wilkerson said.
Deputies are also seeking the couple who introduced the victim to the suspect. They are believed to be named Paul and Rowlanda. Paul may be a former Marine who drives a newer model blue pickup truck and lives in the Saddleback Valley area, Wilkerson said.
Anyone with information is asked to call investigator Kirk Antes at (714) 647-7449.
