Pat O'Hern was hired as boys' basketball coach at Kennedy, Athletic Director Tom Wallace said Thursday.
O'Hern replaces John Mayberry, who, in his 18 seasons as coach, led the Fighting Irish to a 304-166 record and the 1988 Southern Section 3-A championship. Mayberry, who remains a teacher at the school, resigned from his position as coach last month.
O'Hern graduated from Kennedy in 1982 and played at Cypress College from 1982 to 1984 and at Chapman from 1984 to 1986 before returning to Kennedy to coach the girls' team from 1990 to 1992. He served as the men's assistant coach at Cypress from 1993 to 1995 and was Mayberry's assistant last season.
Luke Bodwin, a quarterback at Servite, signed a letter of intent with St. Mary's, Bodwin said Thursday.
Bodwin, completed nine of 18 passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns last season as a reserve for Servite , which advanced to the Southern Section Division V final.
