Rap star MC Hammer was briefly detained and handcuffed on a Hollywood street corner by Los Angeles Police Department officers who believed he fit the description of a suspect brandishing a gun, authorities said.
When officers discovered that Hammer and a few of his friends were unarmed, they released them, said Lt. Mark Savalla.
"He was very upset over the situation," Savalla said.
Officers responded to a call about "a man with a gun" at Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, Savalla said. Officers arrived at the corner and saw several men, including one who fit the description of the suspect with the gun.
