TEMECULA--The Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival, April 26-28, promises a weekend of fun and color at Lake Skinner. Saturday and Sunday, all-day festivities begin with a hot-air balloon launch at 7 a.m. Balloon "glows"--shows of illuminated, tethered balloons--are scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings. Wine tasting is noon-4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday ($3, per souvenir glass; $1 per taste). Friday's balloon glow: $10 per carload; Saturday: $12, general; $3, kids 7-12; free for those 6 and under. NORCO--Experience the spirit of the old frontier at Colt's 15th annual "End of Trail Cowboy Shoot Out and Wild West Jubilee," April 26-28 at Raahauge's Ranch. VENTURA--The Taste of Ventura County is April 26-28 at Channel Islands Harbor, 2950 S. Harbor Blvd. in Vintage Marina. Twenty restaurants and 20 wineries are represented. 5-11 p.m. Friday; noon-11 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. $6, general; $3, seniors 55 and older and military personnel; free for kids 12 and under. LOS OLIVOS--The sixth annual Santa Ynez Valley Carriage Classic is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. April 26-28. The competition of horse-drawn carriages is in the meadow across the road from Firestone Vineyards on Foxen Canyon Road. $10, general; $5, seniors and kids. (805) 688-5692.

HEALDSBURG--A showcase of area art, wine and food is offered at the third annual "Art on the Move" event, noon-6 p.m. May 5. Guests may use their own cars or a free shuttle service to circulate among the venues. Starting points are Simi Winery, 16275 Healdsburg Ave., and Summerhouse Gallery, 419 Allan Court. $10.
