Ed Asner will guest star May 19 in the one-hour season finale of NBC's "Mad About You." In the episode--which is sure to attract attention because it features a separation between Paul and Jamie Buchman (Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt), formerly one of TV's most stable couples--Asner plays an obnoxious, wealthy businessman whose son is engaged to Jamie's sister Lisa (Anne Ramsay). . . . "Oliver & Company," Walt Disney's recently re-released 1988 animated musical starring the voices of Bette Midler, Billy Joel, Joey Lawrence, Dom DeLuise, Cheech Marin and Huey Lewis, will debut on home video Sept. 25, for a limited time only. The movie will sell for $27. . . . The Smashing Pumpkins, whose two-disc "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" album has sold 2.6 million copies since its release last October, will perform Aug. 21 at the Forum. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets. . . . Cable's VH1 will mark what would have been Roy Orbison's 60th birthday today by airing at 5 p.m. "Roy Orbison and Friends," a 1987 concert taped at Los Angeles' Ambassador Hotel that was originally broadcast on Cinemax in 1988. The concert features Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and other top rock figures paying tribute to Orbison and joining him in performances of his songs.
