Taylor Dent

Corona del Mar, Freshman

Dent lost eight sets early this season when he was adjusting to high school tennis and a growth spurt that caused him to grow about four inches in eight months. Lately, however, he has been unbeatable. Last week, he swept six sets in team play, then won the Southern Section individual title, beating Andrew Park of San Marino, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the final Saturday. He is thought to be the first freshman to win the section title.
