MIGUEL FLETCHER, MVP

100, 200 meters

* Placed seventh in 100 meters and eighth in 200 at the state finals. Had career-bests of 10.47 in 100 and 21.06 in 200 during regular season.

RODERICK CROW

El Camino Real, Senior

400 meters

* Ran a school-record 47.9 and placed fifth in the City Section championships. He also recorded three of the region's five fastest times.

RYAN MEUSE

Simi Valley, Sophomore

800 meters

* The Ventura County champion ran 1:57 or faster six times, topped by a region-leading 1:55.20. He finished seventh in the Southern Section Division I championships.

SAL MARTINEZ

Ventura, Senior

1,600 meters

* Runner-up in the Southern Section Division II championships. Ran 4:23.25 or faster six times, capped by a school-record 4:17.09 for fifth place in the Masters Meet.

WILL BERNALDO

Nordhoff, Senior

3,200 meters

* Cal State Northridge-bound Bernaldo ran a school-record 9:04.18 to place second in the State championships after winning the Masters Meet and the Southern Section Division III title.

RANDY HURT

Rio Mesa, Senior

110-meter high hurdles

* The Ventura County champion set a school record of 14.96 in the Southern Section Division II preliminaries and placed fourth in the final.

BRIAN THOMA

Chaminade, Junior

300-meter intermediate hurdles

* The Mission League champion recorded the three fastest times in the region, capped by a 39.42 for second in the Southern Section Division III final.

DAJUAN HAWKINS

Newbury Park, Senior

High jump, Triple jump

* Placed second in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump in the Southern Section Division I championships and advanced to the State meet in both events. He was the region leader in the triple jump at 47 feet and co-leader in the high jump at 6-8.

MERLIN DEMARTINIS

Harvard-Westlake, Senior

Pole vault

* Occidental-bound DeMartinis cleared a region-leading 15-1 early in the season, but a severely sprained left ankle prevented him from jumping in the Southern Section Division III finals.

RONNEY JENKINS

Hueneme, Senior

Long jump

* Brigham Young-bound running back set a Ventura County record of 24-9 and won his third county title, but was not allowed to compete in the Southern Section Division II championships because he didn't show up for his 200-meter heat in the preliminaries after Coach Bill Hayes said he intentionally false started in the 100.

BROCK DIEDIKER

Newbury Park, Senior

Shotput

* Brigham Young-bound linebacker won his second consecutive Ventura County title, placed fourth in the Southern Section Division I championships and led the region at 53-6 1/2.

JOHN DAGATA

Paraclete, Senior

Discus

* The region leader with a school record of 161-9, Dagata placed second in the Southern Section Division IV championships for the second consecutive year.

SECOND TEAM BOYS

RONNEY JENKINS

Hueneme, Senior

100 meters

* He won his second consecutive Ventura County title and had a personal best of 10.66.

TROY GARNER

Notre Dame, Senior

200 meters

* USC-bound football wide receiver ran a personal best of 21.7 and placed seventh in the Southern Section Division III finals.

CHRIS FORDE

Notre Dame, Junior

400 meters

* Ran a career best of 48.74 to place third in the Southern Section Division III championships.

TED PESZYNSKI

Monroe, Senior

800 meters

* Ran a personal best of 1:55.57 to place third in the City Section finals and added a 1:56.31 clocking in a heat of the State meet.

WILL BERNALDO

Nordhoff, Senior

1,600 meters

* His career best of 4:22.91 ranked fifth on the region list, but it defeated Martinez for the Ventura County title.

DAVID LOPEZ

Hoover, Junior

3,200 meters

* Runner-up in the Southern Section Division I finals. Ran a personal best of 9:15.75 to place second in the Masters Meet.

DAVE GARRETT

Thousand Oaks, Senior

110-meter high hurdles,

300-intermediate hurdles

* Runner-up in the Ventura County championships in both events, Garrett timed a wind-aided 14.83 in the highs and a career best of 39.84 in the intermediates.

JOSH HILL

Camarillo, Senior

High jump

* Navy-bound Hill was the co-region leader at 6-8 and placed fifth in the Southern Section Division I finals.

BRIAN STREM

Agoura, Junior

Pole vault

* Cleared a personal best of 14-0 1/2 to win his second consecutive Ventura County title.

LAFAYETTE BAILEY

Littlerock, Senior

Long jump

* Improved his school record to 22-9 and placed second in the Masters Meet after a fourth in the Southern Section Division I finals.

MARCUS CARR

Palmdale, Junior

Triple jump

* Third on the region list with a career best of 45-2, Carr placed seventh in the Southern Section Division I championships.

DENNIS FOX

Crespi, Junior

Shotput

* Won the Mission league title with a personal best of 52-6 1/4 and placed fourth in the Southern Section Division III finals.

BOBBY DEMARS

Westlake, Junior

Discus

* The Ventura County champion threw a career best of 151-11 to win the Marmonte League title.
