* Re "Smokin' Johnnie's Leaves Out an Entree--the Blues," June 13.
Heidi Siegmund Cuda must have been having a very bad day when she visited Smokin' Johnnie's for her review. I, on the other hand, have had many good days at this authentic blues club in the Valley.
She didn't mention the very good soul food menu and was disappointed that the roadhouse ambience was not movie-set authentic, but what true juke joint is? And she was disappointed that the music booked here offers little hint of the blues. When was she there? I have seen many excellent blues groups play there. Johnnie's just tries to diversify the entertainment for a broader appeal.
Please give these up-and-coming clubs a chance to get started. We need diversified entertainment in the Valley.
