U.S. Soling Entry Finally Approved

July 20, 1996|From Staff and Wire Reports

The U.S. entry in the Soling class was finally approved, more than three days after it first came under scrutiny by measurement officials.

Results of tests on the boat, including a sample taken from its hull, showed it complied with the strict international dimensional rules, officials said.

Captain Jeff Madrigali and his crew of Kent Massey and Jim Barton had their preparation interrupted by the delay in approval.
