They Built More Than Stadiums

Atlanta has never been much of a party town--unless you count strip joints and sports bars--but the Olympics might change all that. More than a dozen discotheques have opened here, specifically for the Olympics, and eight more venues have been converted into live music halls designed to give tourists and athletes somewhere to go once the medals are handed out.

But while the House of Blues opening Friday night drew a massive crowd, and outdoor concerts at Underground Atlanta feature hot acts such as Soundgarden, other places are having trouble simply competing with the talent onstage inside the athletes' village--which has included Ziggy Marley, Hootie & the Blowfish and Lisa Loeb.
