The three U.S. women's beach volleyball tandems begin playing today, though none of the American men are scheduled the first day. Linda Hanley, who teams with Harris, knows by now to expect bathing suits to be the brunt of a few jokes.

"We're not offended," Hanley said. "Those are our uniforms; that's our office. It'd be difficult to play in pantyhose and pumps."
