ATLANTA 1996 OLYMPICS | Spotlight

There's No Copyright On Sex

A look at the day that was and at what lies ahead at the Summer Games

The dreaded "logo cops," who have been relentless in tripping up "unofficial" vendors using Olympic symbols, might have met their match.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a coalition of doctors and public-health workers has been covering the Atlanta area with posters, buttons, business cards and handbills--in 17 languages--promoting "safe sex."

They also have been passing out condoms--in the Olympic colors of blue, black, red, yellow and green. Condoms that resemble Olympic rings, in other words.

The logo cops are powerless for two reasons: Since nothing is being sold, no laws are being broken, and there is no official Olympic condom.
