Americans Come Up Empty Once Again

The U.S. men's handball team (0-3) won't break through with its first medal this year after being eliminated from contention in a 35-26 loss to Croatia (3-0) in the highest-scoring game of the tournament.

In other matches, Sweden (3-0) beat reigning European champion Russia (2-1), 22-20; Switzerland (1-2) won its first game with the most lopsided victory of the Games, 33-16 over Kuwait (0-3); Spain (2-1) beat Algeria (0-3), 20-14; and Egypt (3-0) beat Germany (1-2), 24-22.
