An independent pathologist concluded that a Theo Lacy Branch Jail inmate who was found unconscious on his bed died of a brain aneurysm, authorities said Thursday.
The 44-year-old man, whose identity was not available Thursday, was breathing when deputies found him about 5 a.m. Wednesday and tried to wake him up. The inmate didn't respond and was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he later died, deputies said. A pathologist determined the next day that the cause of death was an aneurysm, said Sheriff's Lt. Tom Garner.
