Olympic Medals

If the Valley was an independent country, it would have finished ahead of 43 other sovereign nations in the Olympics medal count. Through Saturday, the three gold, one silver and two bronze medals won by athletes from the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys would have tied Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, New Zealand, Belgium, North Korea, Norway and Sweden. AIDS Fund-Raiser

The courthouse square from which Michael J. Fox went back to the future was the setting Saturday night for AIDS Project Los Angeles' 12th annual Summer Party. Actresses Heather Tom ("The Young and the Restless") and her sister Nicole ("The Nanny") mingled with 5,000 guests in Universal Studios Hollywood Backlot. The event brought in more than $400,000.
