August 04, 1996

Bill Plaschke writes a "humor" piece translating the real meaning behind Olympians' quotes to reporters [July 29].

Translation: If I write a mean-spirited, cynical, and xenophobic article that my gullible editors actually publish, maybe they'll send me to the 2000 Games instead of making me eat sour grapes in the depressing Los Angeles Times offices in California.
