Litton Industries Inc., the Woodland Hills defense electronics concern, said its Applied Technology division has been awarded a contract worth about $97 million to produce threat-warning systems for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

The first order is for 210 systems valued at $45.7 million and includes testing, training and logistics support. An additional 290 systems worth about $52 million can be ordered by the Army as part of the contract, through its fiscal year 2000, Litton said.

The Applied Technology division is based in San Jose. Production will be done at the unit's plant in Grants Pass, Ore.
