Tracor Plans to Hire 100 at Mojave, Lancaster Plants

August 06, 1996

Tracor Flight Systems Inc.'s aircraft systems division said it expects to hire 100 workers at its existing plant in Mojave and a new facility in Lancaster as a result of a $30-million contract from McDonnell Douglas Corp.

The unit of Austin, Texas-based defense electronics concern Tracor Inc. will build a structure to join the wings of the MD-95 twin jet under development by Douglas Aircraft. The MD-95 is a new version of the DC-9 twin jet that is being designed to meet more stringent noise and emission requirements, and lower operating costs for the airlines.
