SHOWS FOR YOUNGSTERS AND THEIR PARENTS TOO : An 11-year-old fights for 'Place to Be Loved' on CBS; cable creates a brand new Jonny Quest

A team of Green Berets has to get an 8,000-pound elephant through 200 miles of rough terrain to a village in Vietnam in Operation Dumbo Drop (Disney Channel, Sunday at 7 p.m.). Determined to keep a promise to villagers to replace their elephant that was a casualty of war, the soliders send the pachyderm in via parachute. For ages 2 to 10.

A Place to Be Loved (CBS, Sunday at 9 p.m.) is based on a true story of an 11-year-old boy who petitions the court to terminate his parents' custody rights so that he can live with his foster parents. For the family.

In Not So Rotten Ralph (Disney Channel, Monday at 7 p.m.), Ralph is sent to Mr. Fred's Feline Finishing School, which turns out not to be the best thing for him. His parents are worried until he returns home and becomes his normal rotten self again. For ages 5 to 10.

The new animated series, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, will simultaneously premiere Monday on TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network. In this updated version of the 1960s cartoon, Jonny is a teenager and travels the world with his father, Dr. Benton Quest, who investigates unusual scientific occurrences. The other members of the crew include Hadji, a boy from India; Race Bannon, a former government secret operations agent; Race's teen-age daughter, Jessie, and Jonny's dog Bandit. The group solves crimes and mysteries and fights supernatural evil-doers. (TNT, weekdays at 5 a.m. and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m.; TBS, weekdays at 1:35 p.m.; Cartoon Network, weekdays at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.) For the family.

A repeat of 1995's The Beatles Anthology (Saturday, 9 p.m. on ABC), tells the story of the band that created rock history. The series continues Thursday, Sept. 5 at 9 p.m., with the final installment airing Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9 p.m. For the family.
