Linda McClellan was named the acting principal of Pacoima Elementary School in April. The Los Angeles native and Los Angeles Unified School District veteran had served as the assistant principal of Pacoima since November 1993.

McClellan, who has been with the LAUSD for 24 years, has taught grades K-6 and worked as a reading specialist and a gifted program coordinator among her many jobs with the district. She also took a year's leave to work with Nancy Honig's Quality Education Program in 1991.

McClellan, who has been married for 22 years and has sons ages 17 and 8, received a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Pepperdine University and a master's in educational administration from the University of San Francisco. She lives in Baldwin Park.

"I am enjoying my experience immensely at Pacoima. It is a real pleasure to work with the parents and the students here.

"Each day brings a new challenge, which I like. It's always something different here, but that is one of the things that makes it enjoyable for me."
