Vista Not So Super?

September 05, 1996

In his review of Taco Mesa, Max Jacobson refers to the restaurant as "maybe the best Mexican food stand in California, outside the famous Super-Rica in Santa Barbara." Jacobson's opinion is not shared by everyone. Super-Rica is on Santa Barbara's Eastside, a neighborhood with a large population of Latinos, yet the patrons of Super-Rica are almost exclusively white. What would be Jacobson's criteria for "best Mexican food"? That served at Super-Rica is nothing special. (We are, however, happy that you continue to send the tourists there.)
