Splash Defense Has No Bite in Loss to Seattle SeaDogs

September 05, 1996

The Seattle SeaDogs scored a goal early in overtime to beat the Splash, 8-7, Wednesday at Key Arena in Seattle.

Olu Moloma scored the winning goal for the SeaDogs off an assist by Tim Bartro 1 minute 22 seconds into overtime. Moloma had a game-high three goals.

The Splash, playing without Dale Ervine, their top offensive player, led, 5-1, at the end of the first half. But the SeaDogs (8-15) were able to come back with three goals in the third and fourth quarters largely because of the Splash's shoddy defense in the second half.

Danny Barber, with two assists, and Paul McDonnell had two goals each for the Splash (10-10). Ruben Fernandez had 16 saves on 33 shots on goals.

Juan De La O recorded 21 saves on 38 shots for the SeaDogs.
