Fire Crews Encircle 11,000-Acre Blaze

Fires in much of the West have been brought under control, while air and ground crews surrounded a Montana blaze that flared to thousands of acres in a few hours. Planes and helicopters dumped fire retardant over the 11,000-acre fire in Montana's Custer National Forest. Cooler weather calmed the fire, but rising winds threatened to send it on another rampage.
