WASHINGTON — Antony De Avila scored one goal and set up another in leading the New York/New Jersey MetroStars over D.C. United, 2-1, in front of 8,053 at RFK Stadium Friday.

The MetroStars (13-15) ended a four-game losing streak and prevented the United (14-15) from clinching second place in the East Division and the home-field advantage in the first round of the MLS playoffs.

De Avila scored off a pass from Tab Ramos in the 18th minute and fed Miles Joseph for a breakaway goal in the 30th minute.

Tony Sanneh scored for D.C. United in the 50th minute.
